IN DASH TACH CLOCK REPLACEMENT (TACH TAKES POSITION OF CLOCK OR CLOCK DELETE PLATE FOR CARS THAT NEVER HAD RALLY GAUGES OR TACH - FEATURES SHOW QUALITY METAL HOUSING & BEZEL. UNLIKE THE PLASTIC & INCORRECT PRIOR PRODUCED ONES, THIS IS 100% CORRECT FOR YOUR 1965-67 GTO OR LEMANS). TACHOMETERS HAVE ELECTRONIC MOVEMENT. THEY WILL RESET TO “0” ONCE THEY HAVE POWER FROM DISTRIBUTOR OF 12 VOLTS. THERE ARE 2 CONNECTORS ON THE BACK OF THE TACHOMETER. ONE IS LABELED WITH A + THAT GETS WIRED TO A SWITCHED 12 VOLT SOURCE AND THE OTHER IS LABELED WITH AN S GETS WIRED TO NEGATIVE SIDE OF THE COIL OR THE TACH OUT ON A GM HEI DISTRIBUTOR. THE UNIT GROUNDS ITSELF WITH THE CASE TO THE METAL DASH OR WITH YOUR ORIGINAL GROUND STRAP.

TACHOMETERS WILL WORK WITH FACTORY GM POINTS OR FACTORY HEI IGNITION.

WHEN USING AN AFTERMARKET IGNITION SYSTEM LIKES MSD, ACCEL, PATRONIX, ECT.

A LOT OF THESE SYSTEMS GENERATES HIGHER OUTPUT VOLTAGE TO THE TACH LEAD THAN WHAT A FACTORY GM TACH CAN HANDLE.

FACTORY GM TACHS CAN OPERATE ON VOLTAGE RANGING FROM 11.2 TO 14.7

MOST AFTERMARKET IGNITION SYSTEMS GENERATE OVER 18 VOLTS.

YOU WILL NEED TO BUY FROM THE MANUFACTURE OF YOUR IGNITION SYSTEM AN ADAPTER TO LOWER THE VOLTAGE TO THE GM FACTORY VOLTAGE.
